There was no foreign investment in Russia’s North Caucasian republics last year, according to the Russian department of statistics.
Moscow attracts the most foreign investment in the country, accounting for almost two-thirds of the total, the news agency Regnum reports.
Unemployment levels are high in the North Caucasus, at 53 percent in Chechnya, 47 percent in Ingushetia and 20 percent in Dagestan. The statistics department also said the lowest average monthly salary in the Russian Federation was in Dagestan, at RUB 5663 (USD 238).
