The ruling National Movement party is planning to recruit businessmen to run for majoritarian seats in parliamentary elections slated for May 21, according to party secretary Davit Kirkitadze.
“The emphasis will be put on people who are experienced and successful [in business]. These people will be useful to the party in helping the government overcome poverty and unemployment in Georgia,” the newspaper Alia quoted Kirkitadze as saying.
Among the businessmen tipped to run in the elections are People’s Bank president Giorgi Goguadze and Lado Kvaratskhelia, owner of the People’s Pharmacy.
