The possibility of a Baltic-Black Sea-Caspian Energy Transit Commonwealth will be discussed at an upcoming Kiev Energy Summit from May 22–23, according to a Ukrainian government official.
“The main aim of the Commonwealth [would be] to provide reliable and secure oil and gas transit at optimal rates,” Bogdan Sokolovskiy, the Ukrainian President’s Commissioner for International Affairs on Energy Security, was quoted by the news agency UNIAN as saying.
He also said it would help develop a “new culture of the energy transit development,” that would benefit energy carriers, producers and consumers.
