Iran ready to transport Turkmen gas and Azeri oil
Tuesday, October 7
The Iranian leadership states that the country is ready to transport natural gas and oil from neighbouring countries through Iran to the world markets. New natural gas pipelines will be built for this purpose parallel to existing oil pipelines.
Bilateral negotiations are currently being conducted over this issue between Iran and Turkmenistan. Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are also interested in the possibility of transporting their oil and gas through Iran. As Deputy Oil Minister Hosain Shirazi states, Iran and the Persian Gulf offer the safest, most economically convenient and simplest route for transporting oil and gas from the Caucasus and Central Asia to world markets.
