Donors have promised USD 4.5 billion to rehabilitate the country after the Russian invasion.
Some Georgian analysts however doubt that the country will receive all the promised money, given the world economic crisis.
Negotiations in different formats are underway, and the Georgian administration has announced that USD 603 million had already been received. Analysts think that rest of the money will be allotted to Georgia if it spends this amount efficiently and transparently and targets it well. Soso Tsiskarishvili for instance insists on that groups should be formed, consisting of Georgian and foreign specialists, to monitor all the stages of the receipt and disbursement of the money. He emphasises the important role NGOs can play in such processes.
