The natural gas supply from Azerbaijan to Turkey in 2009 will be the most it can realistically be, 6.6 billion cubic metres. This was the figure targeted by Turkey and Azerbaijan during this first stage of the development of the Shah Deniz gas field.
Shah Deniz now produces 22 million cubic metres of gas daily, 15 million cubic metres of which are pumped to Turkey. By this coming February Azerbaijan will be pumping to Turkey 18 million cubic metres daily.
Azeri gas is transported to Turkey through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum natural gas pipeline operated by BP. Georgia receives 5% of the gas free for providing transit facilities.
