Shah Deniz gas extraction increases

BP Azerbaijan states that natural gas extraction from the Shah Deniz field increases daily and 24 million cubic metres a day are now being pumped. Last year it extracted 22 million cubic metres daily.
When Shah Deniz exploitation began Azerbaijan received 1.5 billion cubic metres of its gas, Turkey 6.6 billion and Georgia 0.3 billion. By 2015 the field will be producing 20 billion cubic metres annually.
The agreement to extract gas from the field was signed on June 4, 1996. The members of the operating consortium are BP, its technical operator which has 25.5% of the shares, Statoil with 25.5%, Azerbaijan state oil company (10%), LUKoil (10%), TotalFinaElf (10%), and TPAO (9%).
