Russian president Medvedev told journalists in Khabarovsk on May 22 that the Eastern Partnership should not be a partnership against Russia. He expressed his hope that this partnership will be mostly about economic cooperation, in which case Russia would have nothing against it, although of course Russia should be conscious of some issues.
Of the six participant countries of the Eastern Partnership, Moscow has had a military confrontation only with Georgia. With Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine relations are close to normal, although only Armenia and Belarus have especially close relations with Russia.
