Zurab Noghaideli: Georgia must adopt Parliamentary governance

“The country must have a Parliamentary system of governance,” Zurab Noghaideli, the leader of the Movement for Fair Georgia, has stated while meeting the Didube district population, Akhali Taoba reports.

Noghaideli believes that if the Presidential system of governance remains the problems of the population will be resolved in the streets again. “We are prepared for a resolute fight. We have to make this Government call elections for autumn. Saakashvili dragged Georgia into war and then we lost this war due to his cowardly actions, we lost territory, we have hundreds of dead. We’ll make Saakashvili pay for each centimetre of lost territory”, Noghaideli stated.

The former Prime Minister said that Georgian economics must blossom but “Experienced people are needed for this. Some of our Ministers can’t tell one region from another,” he said.

No violations of democracy will go unnoticed by the US

The leader of the Alliance for Georgia Irakli Alasania has stated that the new US administration will react appropriately to all violations of democracy in Georgia, Akhali Taoba writes.

Alasania said that during his meetings with US officials the main topic of discussion was the recent dispersal of peaceful demonstrators where journalists were assaulted. He said that US officials had told him quite clearly that building democratic institutions in Georgia is an irreversible process and a priority of the United States and the new administration will pay great attention to it.

Opposition plan to hold rallies all summer

“Peaceful opposition demonstrations will continue throughout the summer,” Conservative Zviad Dzidziguri announced after consultations in the New Rights office, Alia writes. He added that there will be no serious changes in the strategy of the opposition.

Dzidziguri stated that acts of violence against opposition representatives which have acquired a “repressive character” would be stressed at future protest and the whole world should be informed of these.

The Leader of Conservatives stated that the opposition’s unity is firm and nobody has any feeling that the various parties are about to break up.
