The crisis in the economy and overall in the country is persuading ordinary citizens to refrain from taking holidays. Moreover employers have problems giving paid holidays to their employees. People are also scared to ask for holidays as they are under threat of losing their jobs, it being uncertain what the situation will be in autumn. Therefore people are keeping hold of their savings to meet an uncertain future and not risking them on holidays.
Marketing company ACT has carried out a poll which has revealed that 47% of those asked don’t plan to go on holiday this summer. Most of those who plan to go on holiday, 27% of respondents, will choose Georgian resorts. 22% plan to spend their holidays in their own villages or dachas. Only 2% plan to go abroad.
62% of respondents from Kutaisi plan to go on holiday, but most Batumi residents plan to spend the summer in their home city. The ACT poll was conducted in May and 1,800 adults were questioned.
