The Baku-Supsa pipeline transported more than 1,718,000 tonnes of Azeri oil in January-July 2009. In 2008 it pumped around 407,000 tonnes of oil in the whole year. From September 2006 to May 2008 the pipeline was out of order as it was being rehabilitated. It was then out of action again from August 12 to October 2008 following the Russian aggression.
The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline can pump 7.5 million tonnes of oil annually. All steps are being taken to increase the amount of oil pumped through the pipeline.
