According to information from the Asian Development Bank, USD 732 million was transferred into Georgia from abroad in 2008, a sum equivalent to 5.7 percent of the country’s GDP. By comparison, in 2006 Georgia received USD 485 million in transfers.
Most of the money transfers into Georgia still come from Russia. The amount of money transferred tends to increase every year, however in 2009 due to the world financial crisis it decreased.
