Baku-Kars railway to be completed on time

Azeri Railways representative Gurban Nazirov has stated that there are no problems concerning the construction and rehabilitation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway and the track will be ready to receive trains in 2012.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project envisages the rehabilitation of existing railways in Azerbaijan and Georgia and the construction of 105 kilometres of new track between Georgia and Turkey, 76km in Turkey and 29 in Georgia. Approximately USD 600 million will be spent on restoration and construction work.
