Foreign investments in Georgia mainly in real estates and banks

In the second quarter of 2009 only about USD 92 million in investment entered Georgia, six times less than in the second quarter of 2008. Most investment was made in purchasing real estate - 62%, over USD 57 million. Next came the banking sector, which received over USD 24 million. More than USD 5 million was invested in construction, while agriculture and fisheries received investments of more than USD 3 million. Most of the investment in the second quarter of 2009, over 79% of it, came from the United Arab Emirates.
