Tsotne Gamsakhurdia in prison hospital
24 Saati reports that first President’s son Tsotne Gamsakhurdia is in the prison hospital. According to his lawyer Keti Bekauri Tsotne Gamsakhurdia’s health is in a very bad condition. "Gamsakhurdia is still on hunger strike and refuses to stop, but doctors take intensive care of him,” stated Bekauri, who visited Tsotne Gamsakhurdia yesterday.
Though Bekauri has consistently demanded that Gamsakhurdia be moved to the civilian hospital she says that her client has himself refused this. "Tsotne Gamsakhurdia has not demanded to be moved to another hospital," explained Bekauri.
Gamsakhurdia has already been on hunger strike for a month. He was moved to the prison hospital on 27 November when his condition became serious.
Saakashvili tells off Kutaisi Mayor
Rezonansi writes that President Saakashvili has visited a poor family in Kutaisi which has not had electricity light for 2 years and lives in a flat which lets the rain in.
"It is unacceptable for me that they are roofless because of some resolution. We did not commit the Rose Revolution for this and I will not allow such conditions to exist”, stated the President, instructing Kutaisi's Mayor to address this matter.
The President also instructed the Mayor to deal with the city's refuse collection problem. "Living in these conditions is impossible and a child used to them cannot be normal. So we must quickly resolve this problem… I am sure that every day you are carousing and toasting your city, so I advise you to do this instead”, Saakashvili stated.
The President gave the Kutaisi Mayor a few weeks to improve conditions in the city.
Paata Zakareishvili – We must talk to Saakashvili to expose him
”Despite the fact that I have always said that there is no sense talking to the authorities I think we should continually work with them to expose their real face. Today everyone says that the authorities are frightened by the 50% threshold. If there has not been negotiations about this how would we have known?” political analyst Paata Zakareishvili has stated in an interview with Mteli Kvira.
“We should disclose things so that people can see what Saakashvili is. Whether we like it or not the West is our ally and it seeks the democratisation of Georgia. Saakashvili has continually cheated not only the Georgian people and the opposition but the West as well. Shevardnadze ignored the West when he refused to accept Baker’s formula. The West then guessed what Shevardnadze was. Saakashvili has done the same. He has proved that he does not want consensus and is ready to ignore any agreement if he has no other way out,” Zakareishvili says.
”We should show the world that Saakashvili is the same as Shevardnadze. Do you suppose people had the same attitude towards Shevardnadze in 2003 as in 1995? The attitude of people changed then.
"There are problems in Georgia now. Do we think we will restore our country by constructing roads? Hitler began everything he did by building roads, and Saakashvili is a primitive Hitler.
"We should continually interface with Saakashvili everywhere to expose him. If you do not have contact with him how will you expose him?” Zakareishvili added.
