Tourism a priority for Georgia

President Mikheil Saakashvili stated at the Latvia-Georgian business forum that number of tourists entering Georgia had increased considerably. He highlighted the positive tendency in this direction.
According to the President prior to the Russian aggression of 2008 Adjara had been visited by up to half a million tourists. In 2009 their number exceeded 600,000.
Saakashvili informed the businessmen that buildings of over 1.6 thousand sq.m. were being constructed in Batumi. He said he had just visited the site of a new Sheraton Hotel in Batumi and Hyatt and Hilton are also planning to start building hotels there. Other hotel chains have also been invited to enter the resort.
