Azeri exports double while imports fall

According to official statistics Azerbaijan exported twice as much in January 2010 as in the same period of last year and imports almost halved. Foreign trade turnover was USD 1.791 billion, USD 1.428 billion export, 363 million import.
Azerbaijan's biggest trading partner is Italy, which accounts for 34% of the total external trade volume, followed by France and Indonesia with more than 7% each, Russia 6%, Israel, USA, Canada, Ukraine and Taiwan 4% and Turkey 2.6%. More than 90% of Azerbaijan's exports are oil and oil products.
Azeri MP Ali Masimli has stated that the world economic crisis influenced Azerbaijan's economy as a part of the global economy.
