First sheep, now cattle
Wednesday, March 24
In 2009 Georgia began exporting sheep to Arab countries, thus reviving this branch of agriculture. All together around 250,000 sheep were exported, one quarter of the total number of sheep in Georgia. Farmers have received serious profit from this, the price of Georgian sheep has gone up and most probably Georgia will start exporting more.
Interestingly Arab countries now want to import Georgian cattle as well and it has been reported that already three shiploads of cattle have been sent to Arab countries. Eventually this will boost this branch of agriculture as well.
