The Iranian Ambassador to Russia has stated that without Iranian and Turkmen gas the NABUCCO pipeline will not be filled. Iran has been suggested by several experts as one of the possible suppliers of NABUCCO, but the USA is categorically against this.
Alternatives offered include Azerbaijan, as the main supplier, and negotiations are underway to secure Turkmen gas as well. Iraqi gas could also be used, but at present this is just a theoretical possibility.
