Armenia does not care if the pipeline connecting Russia with Armenia passing through Georgia is privatised and sold. Georgia wanting to sell the pipeline does not mean that it will actually be sold and it will have no impact in Armenia in any case, stated Armenia’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisian at a July 14 press conference.
Three non-Georgian companies, Russia's Gazprom, Kazakhstan's KazMunaiGas and Azerbaijan's SOCAR have already expressed interest in the pipeline. The ruling party's interest in selling this pipeline has become the subject of serious concern and criticism from the opposition, NGOs and independent analysts.
