Hazelnuts are one of the most important agricultural products exported by Georgia. In 2009 Georgia exported hazelnuts worth USD 69 million, more than 24% of Georgia’s total food exports.

90% of the hazelnut crop is decored in Georgia and then exported. They are grown on the area of approximately 13-16,000 hectares. Farmers are planting more and more hazelnuts and the industry is booming. However to obtain access to Western markets serious efforts need to be made.
