The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan on September 2-3. Armenian MP, Head of the Heritage Parliamentary Faction, Stephan Saparyan stated that when in Baku Medvedev will try to torpedo the NABUCCO project. However, he added that after signing different agreements in Yerevan, it will be difficult for Medvedev to influence Azerbaijan considerably. Naturally, following his visit to Yerevan, it will tough for Medvedev to convince Baku not to participate in the NABUCCO project. It is significant that Turkish President Abdullah Gul was in Baku before Medvedev, when according to some analysts he was actively promoting the NABUCCO project, as well as suggesting Turkmenistan's participation. Clearly Russia and Turkey have recently become particularly active in the region.
