Armenia is facing problems in agriculture. The reason for the current fall in agricultural production is the problem climate, according to a statement made on August 30 by Gerasim Alaverdyan, Armenia’s Minister of Agriculture. However the minister remains optimistic, thinking that the country will overcome its problems. He stated that the potato harvest will total 500 000 tonnes. Armenia currently imports potatoes from Iran and Georgia to try to keep the price of this essential item stable.
