Turkmen president confident about NABUCCO prospects

Turkmen President, Gurbangul Berdimukhamedov, expressed his confidence in the prospects of the NABUCCO project's success. According to the President, currently there are works being carried out to determine the legal status of the Caspian Sea, taking into consideration the interests of all the participants. He also highlighted the constructive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan over different issues. The leadership of both sides have built up enough political good will to cooperate and decide all the possible problems in a mutually beneficial way. The Turkmen President openly expressed his support for the NABUCCO project. Azeri President, Ilham Aliev, supported his Turkmen counterpart’s position. There are some controversies between the two countries concerning the division of the Caspian Sea bed. But they have agreed to settle all disputes, as if compromises cannot be made, both sides will suffer. Not only with regards to NABUCCO, but many other projects could come under threat if there is no cooperation between the sides.
