Ex Defence minister negotiates with opposition leaders

Rezonansi reports that former Defence Minister Irakli Okruashvili had talks with Erosi Kitsmarishvili and Levan Gachechiladze, however the details of the meeting are not yet known. As for Kitsmarishvili, who owns pro opposition Maestro TV, he remains in Paris and does not respond to telephone calls. Teo Tlashadze, member of Okruashvili’s party Movement for United Georgia says that she is not aware of such a meeting. According to released information the rumour about a possible alliance of Zurab Noghaideli and Irakli Okruashvili failed because of Okruashvili’s ambitions. Noghaideli is yet to comment on the issue so far.

Petre Mamradze from Noghaideli’s party states that consultation for future plans between Noghaideli and Okruashvili began after local government elections in May, 2010. Mamradze says that soon a joint statement will be released to explain the methods by which the country can overcome the crisis. Rezonansi reports that Okruashvili held a meeting with Irakli Melashvili, a member of National Forum after their leader Kakha Shartava refused to meet him.

First President of Georgia may have committed suicide

Robizon Margvelani, the Chief of the Security Guards of Zviad Gamsakhurdia , the First President of Georgia, considers that the reason of the death of the First President was suicide, Sakartvelos Respublika writes. He stated this on September 16, at the sitting of the Interim Commission on Issues of the Decease of the First President of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia.

“I did not see the targeted gun nor did I see anyone aiming a gun, but the image I saw there after the shot indicated that a suicide took place”, Margvelani stated. The members of the Commission listened to him for more than 3 hours. Margvelani had to respond to more than 90 questions.

The members of the Commission do not share the version about the suicide and have opposite opinion to the Head of Security-Guards of the First President.

"Proceeding from the data discovered by us that we obtained from the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, as well as additional data, this does not seem to be the case. There is evidence that the opposite happened” – the Chairman of the Commission, the MP Konstantine Gamsakhurdia stated. According to him, the Commission received the detailed information on the particular issues from Robizon Margvelani. However, there are the questions Robizon Margvelani evaded to reply. As Konstatine Gamsakhurdia stated, this especially regards incoming gunshot wounds, trajectory, and the distance of the shot. The Commission did not receive any comprehensive answers on these details.

The Commission will discuss on the validity of the facts and arguments presented today and will adopt the corresponding conclusion. At the next sitting of the commission it is planned to invite the former Vice-Prime Minister Avtandil Margiani. The Commission plans to arrive at the final conclusion by the end of the year.
