Georgian citizens deported from Turkey

The citizens of Georgia, who were arrested in Turkey on charges of prostitution and trafficking, have been deported.

The suspects had been detained in Adana, Turkey.

The names and professions of detainees are already known: 35-years old Irina - lawyer, 20 years-old Anna - designer and Daly- surgeon (the citizen of Turkey)while police also detained a Turkish prosecutor.

Prior to this incident, fifteen Georgian citizens, who were arrested on charges of prostitution, were deported from Turkey at the end of October. (Interpressnews)



Georgia will host EU Commissioner in 2011

The EU Commissioner for Energy, Gunter Ottinger, will visit Georgia in the spring of 2011. This information became known during the visit of the Georgian delegation to Brussels, arriving there under the headship of Nika Gilauri, Prime Minister for the "Georgian energy conference".

In the conference, Gunter Ottinger, EU Commissioner for Energy; Alexander Khetaguri, Energy Minister; international organizations, high rank EU officials and private companies took part.

At the conference, the PM took the floor and talked about the investment areas in the country, about the changes with regards to inflow of investments to the country and the changes made in legislation that will promote the flow of investment into the country. He then talked about current projects and the possibility of the construction of small and medium WPP (Water Power Plants) as well as the Black Sea transmission line.

Gunter Ottinger, when taking the floor, once more underlined the special strategic role of Georgia in the implementation of energy projects. He also supported the full integration of Georgia to the EU market. (GHN)



Young Medics Union Hold Presentation of Project “Teaching a Healthy Way of Life at Schools”

The Georgian Young Medics Union held a presentation of the project “Teaching a Healthy Way of Life at Schools”.

The project is aimed at providing adults with qualified information about healthy living; developing comprehensive teaching of healthy lifestyles in Georgia and the primary prevention of diseases provoked by failing to live life healthily. Trainings and workshops for the schoolchildren are to be held within the scope of the project

Manager of the project, George Gorgaslidze, held a presentation of the project and summarized the aimed results of the works at the final level of the project. Schoolchildren taking part in the training are awarded with certificates.

The project is funded by the Civil Institutionalism Development Fund. (Prime-News)



Meeting On Georgian-Abkhaz Dialogue Issue Held at TSU

A meeting on the issue of Georgian-Abkhaz dialogue was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on November 10.

Prime-News was told about it by the press service of the TSU.

The event was held within the project "The active society, as a guarantor of peace initiatives” of the youth organization, funded by the EU and the UN.

During the meeting, members of the Georgian-Abkhaz dialogue, Georgian students, who meet their Abkhaz coevals outside of Georgia, informed students about these meetings and outlined proposals on how they can be involved in the process of the dialogue.

Opinions and proposals expressed at the meeting will be issued in the form of recommendations and submitted to the Government of Georgia, international organizations and Abkhaz society. (Prime-News)
