Georgia investing in tourism

Georgia will allot GEL 240 million from its 2011 budget on tourism development. GEL 135 million will be spent in Batumi, Adjara on touristic infrastructure, 76.5 million will be spent in Mestia on the ski resort and constructing roads and GEL 33.5 million is being allocated to develop the Anaklia touristic zone. Minister of Finance, Kakha Baindurashvili stated that tourists visit every region of Georgia, it is important to maintain them and even increase the number. Therefore a lot of attention will be paid to the development of infrastructure. Talking about Mestia, the Minister promised that Mestia will become an international standard winter resort. He also mentioned that a concrete reinforced motorway is being built there to enable tourists to be able to travel there throughout the year.
