Investment prognosis becomes more modest
Thursday, December 2
At the end of the last year and at the beginning of this year, Georgian officials were very optimistic about the investments coming into the country estimating them from the USD 1.2 up to USD 2 billion. Unfortunately in the first half of this year only USD 273 million entered the country and, as some analysts suggest, it is unlikely that these figures have increased much in the third quarter as well. So, in estimating next year’s investments, Nika Gilauri has become more modest, forecasting investments incoming into Georgia to the value of around USD 1 billion. In 2009, Georgia received USD 659 million and it is likely that this year the investments will be less than that figure – this would be the lowest figure in the last five years.
