Turkey and Azerbaijan still discussing oil transit tariffs
Wednesday, December 8
Turkish company Botas, operating the Turkish segment of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline is dissatisfied with the results of the management of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, since instead of making a serious profit in 2009, it made a loss. The company has made a complaint about the situation and is demanding an increasing in transit fees. Meanwhile, BP Azerbaijan has no plans to change its transit price policy and so there is a serious business confrontation, particularly as solid business interests are involved in the disputes. Hopefully the countries will be able to find a mutually beneficial compromise.
