By the end of 2010, the Azeri state oil company SOCAR sold to different countries over 1.1 bln cubic meters of gas. Of this amount, up to 800 mln was delivered to Russia. At the same time Azerbaijan provided through SWAP contract to Iran more than 300 mln cubic meters of Natural gas. That means that Azerbaijan is providing gas to Iran and the same amount is given from Iran to the Nakhchevan autonomous republic in Azerbaijan. In December 2009, SOCAR had an agreement with Gazprom to import to Russia 1 bln cubic meters of gas but in reality Russia imported 20% less. The contract between the two countries provides the possibility of regulating the gas supply volume.
