Azerbiajan to accelerate Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway construction

Azerbaijan is prepared to allot an extra USD 500 mln to accelerate the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway Georgian segment. At the end of January, the ministers of transport and working groups will gather for additional discussion on the issue. Initially, Azerbaijan allotted to Georgia credit for 25 years of USD 200 mln. Construction of the railway started in November 2007, originally construction was due to finish in 2011. This soon changed to 2012 and today the forecasted completion date is 2013.
