Asian Development Bank is going to allot a grant into central Asian countries for the purposes of modernizing and reconstructing border checkpoints. ADB will carry out a feasibility study for facilitating six prioritised transportation corridors in the borders of central Asian countries. At present, loaded trucks spend more than 24 hours at the border checkpoints. This is a result of weak infrastructure, obsolete informative technologies, a lack of appropriate facilities and poor training of personnel. By improving infrastructure, according to ADB evaluation, around USD 200 mln would be required, of which ADB will finance USD 150 mln.
