Azerbaijan bridging Russian-Turkish relations

The development of relations between Turkey and Russia is very important for Azerbaijan, thinks Azeri political scientist Mumbariz Akhmedoglu. He stated that security issues in this region very much depend on relations between Ankara and Moscow. Ultimately, it is beneficial for Azerbaijan as well. As Turkey remains Azerbaijan’s closest ally while Baku is preserving good relations with Russia, Baku can play the role of the bridge between the two countries. According to the analyst, relations between Turkey and Russia are developing quickly in a positive direction and this can eventually influence regional policy. Bilateral trade relations and turnover could be increased up to USD 30 bln while Turkish investments in Russia might reach USD 50 bln. Soon, the visa restrictions will be lifted between two countries and Russia has expressed interest in developing a Nuclear Power plant in Turkey.
