Expert challenges “democratic Singapore” concept

In recent times, Saakashvili has talked regularly about the concept of so called “democratic Singapore” as a possible model of the development of Georgia. Professor Lado Papava challenges this concept saying that there is no such possible notion. Singapore cannot be democratic, because there is not a democratic regime there, he says. He also mentioned that the ruling national movement in Georgia plans to stay in power for more than 50 years, which is clearly a Singapore type of reality. So, in this case, the country will be looking like Singapore, states Papava.
