Iran announced that until the new decision is reached and a new document is adopted on the status of the Caspian Sea it will continue to adhere to the documents which were adopted and signed between Iran and the Soviet Union. Three meetings have been held on the issues of determining the status of the Caspian sea. Different bilateral agreements between Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are signed. However, the division of the sea has not been fully agreed upon. Iran suggests division into five equal parts.
