Gazprom, the Russian state owned company, has refused to increase the volume of gas it purchases in central Asian countries - Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. It should be noted that recently Gazprom has started to lose its grip in the Turkmenistan energy market as Turkmenistan has started to sell more gas to Iran and China rather than Russia. Both Beijing and Tehran have promised to increase their consumption of Turkmen gas in the near future.
