Five years on, 1000 protestors gather to grieve murdered pair

A rally against violence was held near the tennis courts of Tbilisi, on May 2. The rally was dedicated to the 5 year anniversary of when Zurab Vazagashvili and Aleksandre Khubulov were killed as part of a special operation. Relatives of the killed men, different opposition parties’ leaders and NGOs took part in a crowd of around 1000 protestors.
The participants violated the law on manifestations and street rallies deliberately and stated that they would ignore all those laws, which are anti constitutional and are aimed at covering criminal activities of the current authorities, “we have violated the law and blocked the street several times, me and my friends are not going to pay the fine and are ready to be arrested for this," Jaba Jishkariani, leader of youth movement Civil Front, said.
Leader of Solidarity to Illegal prisoners, Eka Beselia, who also participated in the manifestation, has once again demanded impartial investigation of the cases and punishment of guilty persons.
Vazagashvili was killed during a special operation on May 2 of 2006. The case against the policemen participating in the murder has been suspended.
