Turkmenistan is ready to increase its level of gas being exported to Russia, stated the Turkmen Minister of Oil and Gas Industry. Until 2009, when Turkmenistan started supplying China with natural gas, it exported this product primarily to Russia who would then sell it on to Ukraine and other European markets. This year it is planned for Turkmenistan to export to Russia no less than 10 bln cubic meters of natural gas. The analysts paid attention to the fact that this announcement was made after decision of NABUCCO shareholders to delay the implementation of this project. It is significant that the European Parliament has also recently refused to sign the document on cooperating with Turkmenistan because of human rights violations within the country. This is probably why the Turkmen arrived at the decision to increase the volume of cooperation with Russia.
