Corruption in Azerbaijan

Corruption in Azerbaijan has reached very dangerous levels, Musavat Party leader Isa Gambar claimed in a statement on July 9. He specified that corruption of the country had the shape of a pyramid and it has spread across the whole nation. Isa Gambar accuses the family of President Ilham Aliev of promoting corruption citing the purchase of villas in Dubai, the possession of mobile operator Azer Phone by the daughters of the president and other matters. The leader of the Azeri national Front Ali Kerimli also repeated these allegations mentioning that existing corruption is the product of a lack of state control. Among those who criticize the current Azeri systems there are mostly opposition representatives who are also upset about serious violations of human rights.
