In January-June 2011 Georgia’s foreign trade turnover increased by 38%. However its negative balance also increased almost at the same rate from the same period last year. Out of roughly USD 4 bln for the first half of 2011, 1 bln is in exports whereas 3 bln is in imports. The biggest partner in this period for Georgia is Turkey – USD 671 mln. Then comes Azerbaijan – 442 mln USD; third is Ukraine – 424 mln USD; followed by China, Germany, USA, Kazakhstan, Russia and UAE
Out of these countries Georgia only has a positive trade balance with Kazakhstan. Georgia is slowly increasing its trade turnover with EU countries as well.
