Negotiations started between Azeri state oil company SOCAR and Turkish state pipe line company BOTAS, on August 26 over the issue of transiting Azeri gas to Europe through Turkey. This agreement would envisage regulating the issue of Azeri natural gas from the Shah Deniz field. The negotiations had started before; however they were suspended because of the elections in Turkey. Another very important issue on the table is the provision of Azeri gas to the Nabucco project.
