Ugulava President, Saakashvili for Prime Minister, Bakradze – Parliament chairman
Mteli Kvira writes that speculation over the next presidential elections and its candidates for presidency have already begun. The political analyst Ramaz Sakvarelidze thinks that despite recently released information, the United National Movement will not name David Bakradze current chair of the parliament as its choice for president. Instead, Gigi Ugulava will head the list and most probably ruling party will present the Tbilisi mayor as its favorite candidate. Sakvarelidze says that Bakradze will stay on his post and lead the parliament, whereas Mikheil Saakashvili will become Prime Minister. The analyst avoids making certain predictions as who will win the parliamentary elections and says that it can be only predicted after election campaigns begin 2-3 months later.
Model Lessons Held
A model lesson was held for prospective 'mentor teachers' in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. First Deputy Minister Koka Sepherteladze and Director of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, Gia Mamulashvili, observed the lessons' proceedings, 24 Hours reports.
The model lesson was conducted in English, and the invited teachers from various public schools had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the methodology and teaching approaches used by the lesson instructors.
The first round of the contest to appoint mentor teachers is already finished. Mentor teachers have special training and receive an additional 160 GEL to their monthly salary. At the same time, mentor teachers will be able to accumulate credits as part of a professional development scheme. Those wishing to become mentors are now further required to pass an interview, during which they will have to present a scheme for a model lesson.
Mentor teacher program has been operating for two years. This year, it has been introduced in more than ten regions of Georgia. Mentor teachers can work in Tbilisi, Gori, Telavi, Akhaltsikhe, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Poti, Ozurgeti and Rustavi Schools.
