The Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection presented the first encyclopedia on Georgian cinematography on September 26. The visitors of the event had the opportunity to receive the first gifted copies of the unique book with autographs from its creators. Georgian Film - Encyclopedic Dictionary is the first biographic reference book of the Independent Film Project representing the outstanding figures from the Georgian film history since its introduction to Georgia.
Archil Gelovani is the general producer of the Independent Film Project, Marina Kereselidze is the editor of the encyclopedia. Both are famous figures in Georgian cinematography and attended the presentation of the book issued with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and the sponsorship of Silknet in cooperation with the Georgian Film Studio.
Around 1,000 biographic entries on directors, producers, actors/artists, operators, artists, composers, theorists and critics of various Georgian belles-lettres, documentary, science-fiction or animation films have been gathered in one unique book. The brief introduction to Georgian film history with a biographical dictionary, photos, playbills and decorations from various films will immortalize Georgian art for the future. The book contains a list of international festival awards and professional prizes in the arts and will become an initial guide book for future generations interested in Georgian cinematography.
