MP Rafik Petrosyan, the representative of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia stated some time ago that Putin’s return as the president of Russia will make its foreign policy stricter. However, the politician thinks that this will not touch Russian-Armenian relations as well as the position Moscow holds over the Karabakh conflict resolution.
Petrosyan suggested that sometimes there were periods in Russian-Armenian relations when Moscow was ready to ignore Armenia’s interests. However, according to the MP, the Kremlin realized finally that it is Armenia that is the major ally for Russia in the region. Petrosyan also stated that without Armenia, Russia would lose the entire northern Caucasus up to Rostov on Don.
