In 2012 Armenia will increase taxes in the country to up to 17% of GDP. This target had been set by the Armenian government to be reached by 2011. As MP Armen Martirosyan stated, the government failed to fulfill its promise on this. According to Martirosyan, the 2012 draft budget shows that the government either is unable to function properly or does not want to do so. According to the MP, the ruling power should free business from bureaucratic influence and should use regulatory legislation more properly.
