Bread-baking factory in Rustavi¹ 16 penitentiary establishment

The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. David Bakradze and the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia (MCLA) Ms.Khatuna Kalmakhelidze opened a bread-baking factory in Rustavi ¹ 16 penitentiary establishment.

At this stage, more than 40 inmates will be employed and receive a salary.

In the framework of the ’Ten Point Plan’ of the Georgian government, the ministry in turn will contribute to the development of vocational education of inmates as well as to their employment and adjustment to the labour market.

An Educational House is already operational in Rustavi #16 penitentiary establishment, where highly-demanded professions are taught.

A bread-baking factory in Ksani ¹15 penitentiary establishment has been successfully operating for a year.

Within the framework of the ongoing reform in the penitentiary system, the MCLA plans to broaden employment opportunities in the future as well.
