20 years of Georgian-American relations

On March 24, 2012, it will be the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USA and Georgia. The United States first opened its Embassy in Georgia in 1992. During these 20 years the US has allotted more than USD 3 billion to Georgia in different ways. Out of this amount 1 billion was allotted to Georgia after the Russian invasion in August 2008. Trade turnover between the two countries for the last ten years exceeded USD 2.2 billion. During this period more than 45 different types of agreements were signed. 420 volunteers from the American Peace Corps have served in different villages and towns in Georgia.
