Turkish leadership has agreed to let the so-called South Stream pipeline run through its territorial waters. On December 28 the final agreement was signed between Turkish and Russian sides. It has also been decided that Turkey will buy an additional 2 billion cubic metres of natural gas from Russia.
Azerbaijan gives it its own explanation for Ankara’s decision to sign the agreement with Russia. Azerbaijan and Turkey plan to construct a Trans Anatolian pipeline. All these steps however undermine the Nabucco pipeline.
