Government officials are very optimistic about the direction of current negotiations with the European Union, which aim to grant Georgia a "special partnership" status for free trade with EU countries.
Some analysts, however, are doubtful that talks will result in a deal, as it is unlikely that Georgia is currently capable of meeting all stated requirements, or complying with EU safety, quality and legislative standards.
