Banking sector profits grow for second straight year

According to the National Bank of Georgia, profits in the banking sector reached almost 300 million USD in 2011. In 2010, profits were less than 100 million USD, but still demonstrated a marked upswing over their loss of 40 million USD in 2009. Last year Georgia was home to 19 banks with capital assets estimated at 12.7 billion GEL.
